Infrastructure, Safety, Environment and Engineering

The two-year trainee program Engineering allows you to get to know different areas at Boehringer Ingelheim in the form of three- to six-month job rotations. The majority of rotations take place in Germany (at the corporate headquarters in Ingelheim and optionally at the Biberach site). An assignment abroad is not an integral part of the program but may be possible in consultation with your supervisors. The trainee program aims to provide an overall view of different departments at Boehringer Ingelheim. This is achieved by immersing you during each station in the daily business, taking on sub-projects and tasks. The focus is always on your personal development, which means that an individual deployment plan is drawn up for you in close consultation with your supervisor.

The projects and deployment rotations can be in many different areas. Possible rotations are:

  • Utilities and Services

  • Business Process Excellence

  • Global Engineering

  • Site Engineering & Technology

  • Biopharmaceuticals

  • Launch & Production Site Germany

  • Global Environment, Health, Safety & Sustainability

  • Human Pharma Supply

  • and more....!

During these rotations, you will be assigned to a specific project and will actively participate in the implementation together with the technical supervisors.

In addition to the professional project work, you will strengthen your soft skills and leadership competencies in seminars that are specifically organized for trainees from all departments. Furthermore, the trainee circle offers you an active, interdisciplinary, and international network. Together with the other trainees, you will organize visits to the various German-speaking locations and participate in discussions with BI executives.

The Trainee Program promotes your development as a specialist and manager through a variety of projects, direct proximity to senior management and excellent networking within the company. The success stories of our alumni show the program to be a career springboard for young, motivated people, who want to take on leading roles at Boehringer Ingelheim. Following the Trainee Program, various areas are open to you for your personal career path.

Successful candidates have a degree (Bachelor, Master, Diploma) in a technical engineering field. An international station as part of a study or internship is usually also available. Trainees should be motivated and open to other cultures, accept challenges, and deliver impressive results even under demanding circumstances. Good English and communication skills and an analytical mindset complement your profile.
