Almost 600,000 Australians live with low vision or blindness. Guide Dogs Australia plays a critical role in the community, supporting people across Australia with low vision or blindness to achieve their goals and live the life they choose. Guide Dogs helps people living with low vision or blindness to navigate safely and with confidence through the community. They do this through the provision of Guide Dogs as well as a vast range of services including orientation and mobility, occupational therapy, orthoptics, assistive technologies, access consulting and psychological and counselling support.

All Guide Dogs go through an intensive training program to learn the skills required to navigate our modern world, from bustling city streets to uneven paths and tracks in the country. Following their training, dogs are matched with a Client living with low vision or blindness, through a detailed selection process that caters to each Client’s individual personality, mobility needs and lifestyle.

Whether they’re in training, working, or enjoying some downtime, it is essential that Guide Dogs are protected from parasites and infectious diseases. Boehringer Ingelheim is proud to support and enhance the health and wellbeing of Guide Dogs through the ongoing provision of vaccines and parasite protection, including NexGard SPECTRA®, for all Guide Dogs puppies and adult dogs across Australia, supporting their good health and empowering people with low vision or blindness to live their lives to the fullest.
