A versatile solution for PCV2 and PRRS protection

Porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) and porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome (PRRS) are two of the most devastating and economically damaging swine diseases. Not only do they hinder performance, they also impair the immune system, making pigs more susceptible to other diseases and making it critical to have prevention protocols in place.

There are different approaches to vaccinating for PCV2 and PRRS, which up until now have included separate injections of monovalent vaccines or using a multivalent product like Ingelvac 3FLEX®. Separate injections mean more stress on the pig and double the time and material costs, and multivalent vaccines come with strict mixing instructions that, if not followed properly, can put vaccine efficacy at risk. This also holds true if vaccines are mixed or administered contrary to their labeled instructions.

It starts with biosecurity

For producers looking to vaccinate for PCV2 and PRRS, there’s now a new, simpler option. FLEX CircoPRRS® is the first single-dose vaccine to combine the efficacy and safety of industry-leading Ingelvac CircoFLEX® for PCV2 and Ingelvac® PRRS MLV for PRRS. Thanks to a state-of-the-art purification process called DiaTEC, Ingelvac CircoFLEX® is now non-virucidal, easing the mixing process with modified live Ingelvac® PRRS MLV.

“Having the ability to combine PCV2 and PRRS vaccines in a single dose can help producers ensure their herds are getting the protection they need while reducing stress on each pig,” said John Waddell, DVM, director, key account veterinarians, Swine at Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health USA Inc. “A customizable, one-shot protocol could also help producers save time and reduce their material costs compared to giving multiple injections.”
