Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health launches the first vaccine combination to protect pigs in Canada against two devastating diseases in one shot
• Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health Canada Inc. launches a unique vaccine combination that protects pigs against porcine circovirus 2 (PCV2) and porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome (PRRSv) in one shot
• A proprietary purification process allows Boehringer Ingelheim’s Ingelvac CircoFLEX® to be mixed with market-leading Ingelvac® PRRS MLV without compromising PRRS protection
• The vaccine combination provides greater flexibility to veterinarians and producers to select the vaccine that best fits their herd and disease management program
Burlington, Canada, June 15, 2023 – Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health Canada Inc. has launched a vaccine combination that delivers protection against two of the most devastating and economically damaging swine diseases in one shot.
FLEX CircoPRRS® protects pigs against porcine circovirus 2 (PCV2) and porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome (PRRSv). These diseases can hinder performance and impair the immune system making pigs more susceptible to other diseases. Because of proprietary DiaTEC purification, combining the Boehringer Ingelheim PCV2 and PRRS vaccines (Ingelvac CircoFLEX® and Ingelvac® PRRS MLV) does not negatively impact PRRSv viability or the efficacy of either vaccine.
Dr. Martin Lafrenière, Technical Service Veterinarian with the Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health Canada Livestock team, said the vaccine combination protects pigs and it is also beneficial for producers.
“This innovative vaccine combination provides producers with the convenience of a one-shot protocol that does not compromise the efficacy of the PRRS vaccine,” said Dr. Lafrenière. “By administering two vaccines in one shot, producers are protecting their herds against two devastating diseases while reducing stress on the pigs, saving time and reducing material costs.”
FLEX CircoPRRS® is part of the FLEX vaccine portfolio which provides veterinarians and producers the ability to select the right vaccine that best fits their farm and disease management program. “We are pleased to provide this innovative vaccine combination to producers and veterinarians,” said Derek Groff, Business Unit Director, Livestock for Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health Canada. “It will help keep pigs healthy, support their well-being by reducing stress and help producers be more efficient by reducing the number of injections given. We know that when animals are healthy, people are healthier too.”
When purchasing FLEX CircoPRRS®, customers receive a bundle containing one 50-dose bottle of Ingelvac® PRRS MLV vaccine, along with one 50-dose bottle of Ingelvac CircoFLEX®.
