Rafał Rybicki

From the ground up

 Rafał Rybicki

Rafał Rybicki, Head of Legal and Compliance Services in the Global Business Services (GBS) Center Wroclaw, looks back on a busy first year with Boehringer Ingelheim – for him and the Center alike.

I joined Boehringer Ingelheim about a year ago, when the GBS Center in Wroclaw, Poland, was more a plan than reality. That was a key part of my decision to apply; I could have a real impact on the shape of the Center – the possibility to create a Legal and Compliance Services department within GBS Center Network from scratch made it a very attractive career opportunity.

Serving the whole company

Creating the department has meant taking part in designing processes, building a team, and then preparation and operational ramp-up of the services. My teams are now providing Legal and Compliance services in different fields (Trademarks support, Contracting, Internal Investigations) to internal stakeholders across the whole organization.

Positive attitude and real support

What makes our organizational culture really stand out from other multinational corporations is the positive attitude of the people and the real — not just declared — support we get from the management. We think of ourselves as a real, big Boehringer Ingelheim family and we genuinely want to contribute to the common goals. I really enjoy coming to the office and being with the other people here.

What comes next?

Legal and Compliance Services is one of the most dynamically developing trends in the Business Services area globally. The opportunity not only to be a part of that, but actively to create, develop and deliver this service for Boehringer Ingelheim, is really exciting for me. For me personally, we have only recently launched the Center in Wroclaw; this is going to be my focus for several years to come.

What’s the best thing about working for Boehringer Ingelheim?

Two things! First, the fact that, together, we are contributing to a real improvement in the quality of life for millions of people around the world – our patients. Second, there’s a unique atmosphere at this company; it’s one of the biggest in the industry, but it has managed to preserve its identity and values as a family-run company.
