As ongoing climate events, pandemics and human resource challenges contribute to growing demands for healthcare services in British Columbia, a ground-breaking partnership between Boehringer Ingelheim Canada, Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH), and the VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation is focused on securing the future.
The unique partnership funds initiatives in the areas of planetary health, Indigenous health and chronic disease, aiming to ensure that healthcare remains sustainable for generations to come. Unlike traditional research funding models, the partnership provides flexible seed funding for projects focused on achieving sustainable improvement within the healthcare system itself; providing VCH with an opportunity to support initiatives with a direct impact on the future delivery of care in the region.
VCH is working directly with Boehringer Ingelheim Canada’s Patient Access and Healthcare Solutions team to bring healthcare solutions to patients faster, improve health outcomes, and create sustainable health system change. Sustainable healthcare promotes the understanding that human health and the environment around it are intrinsically linked and acting in a way that supports both people and planetary health.
VCH is British Columbia’s hub of healthcare innovation, research and academic excellence, providing specialized care to 1.2 million people throughout the province, including First Nations, Métis and Inuit in the region.
This collaboration is an example of how delivering innovative solutions to patients can help promote health outcomes and bring sustainable and transformative change to improve the healthcare system. Learn more about our partnership.
