How is the working culture at Boehringer Ingelheim?​

In my experience, BI prioritizes establishing every employee’s field of own responsibility and thus works toward pushing everyone to reach their full potential. Moreover, crossfunctional teamwork is valued very highly, which always delivers new exciting challenges and ideas.​

​How was your onboarding?​

It was an overall great experience. There was a lot of general input throughout the first weeks especially regarding BI as a company, the Ingelheim campus, IT-related measures and of course getting to know the department and colleagues. Apart from this onboarding, there were trainee-specific onboarding meetings and activities as well, which meant I was able to connect with the trainees from other programs who have gone through the same experiences. ​

​Why did you choose a Trainee program as an entry position?​

Throughout my master’s degree I worked at a big consultancy that delivered market access and pricing strategies, which made me curious to work in this field. However, since there is quite a broad bandwidth of topics and work fields within market access itself, I felt like the traineeship was a great opportunity to rotate through the different subdepartments and thus find out where exactly my interests and my strengths lie. Furthermore, the time period of the traineeship offers great opportunities for networking within the company and deeply familiarize myself with BI’s way of working.​

​How did you like the application process?​

I enjoyed the process, especially the assessment center was a great experience since I was able to already meet a part of the market access team and connect with my fellow applicants. From the BI side, the response times after the first interview and the assessment center were also really quick so there was always clarity as to where I stood in the process.​

​Could you give any tips for future applicants?​

In my experience, it was very helpful to just go into the process with an open mind, to be myself and admit when there is something you do not know yet. I got the feeling that the assessors really valued complete transparency. In the end, the trainee position is also there for you to learn, so there is no problem with that shining through at times. ​

Which additional activities does the trainee program offer?​

With the status of a trainee, one is entitled to participate in multiple different seminars on relevant organizational, managerial and social skill-related topics. Furthermore, there are a lot of activities taking place within the trainee circle, which are mainly targeted towards connecting with the other trainees. This includes events like the Trainee Days or regular Trainee Lunches.  ​
