Trainee Experience Report ISEE
Andreas Hoff
Andreas is a Management Trainee in the department Infrastructure, Safety, Environment and Engineering, having joined in July 2020. Here he responds to some frequently asked questions about his experience in the trainee program.
How is the working culture at BI?
Andreas: At BI you will find a very open and helpful culture. But you must show personal initiative, to
get interesting work, and to build a network.
What makes BI unique as an employer?
Andreas: What is special about BI is that it is a family company. Despite its size, the company is not
accountable to shareholders. This is why BI focuses on its employees. There are support programs for many
life situations, whether good or bad.
Why did you choose a trainee program as an entry position?
Andreas: The trainee program enables me to recognize my strengths and weaknesses. In addition, my main
goal is to find out what kind of work and which tasks I enjoy, in order to find the optimal position for me
after the program.
How did you like the application process?
Andreas: It was a very structured process. After the assessment center, you were told directly whether you
would get the job or not. Unfortunately, I did not get the job at first. However, I was called again and invited
for another trainee position. This means that they are not just words that you will keep in mind, BI lives it.
Can you give any tips for the future applicants?
Andreas: I think the most important thing during the whole application process is to be yourself. Because
the company must not only like you, but you must also feel comfortable in the company. And in my opinion,
you can only feel this way if you can be yourself.
How does a typical day as Trainee at BI look like?
Andreas: My day as a trainee is no different from that of my colleagues on the project. I was very quickly
integrated into the day-to-day business and was allowed to take on responsible tasks. In addition to the work
in the project, there are occasionally opportunities for tasks from the trainee circle
