Making More Health and COVID-19
Dealing with this pandemic is a major challenge for our communities “on the ground”. Find out what our communities, local partners and social entrepreneurs in the MMH network do
The situation in our local Making More Health Communities of people close to the poverty line in India and Kenya is critical. It is precisely children, the elderly, and the socially disadvantaged who suffer the most. There is a lack of food, soap, and medical education and mental health issues are widely spread - particularly in the slums and rural areas. Within the global support program Making More Health helps the local population, our local partners, and social entrepreneurs with a 580,000 euro relief fund.
Making More Health, in partnership with Ashoka, local NGOs and social enterprises had a successful impact in the last years: Our communities and self- help groups learned a lot about hygiene and health as well as about soap making, thus being able to produce soap immediately and in high quantity and distributing it to the population around. With the experience as trained informal health workers they could share important hygiene information immediately with their communities and thus help other people fight the virus.
Our social entrepreneurs adapted their business models to the crisis and offer innovative and disruptive solutions where the need is huge now.
We would like to share these great impacts with you. Every week, on our Making More Health Blog, we publish reports and articles about the situation on the ground and the enormous dedication of our partners and MMH fellows.
