Global Medicine
If you are interested in Medicine, there are two different programs: Global Medicine or Medical Human Pharma Germany.
Both two-year programs give you the opportunity to become a part of our Human Pharma division. The average duration of a rotation is about 6 months, where you can actively choose – in consultation with your supervisor – some of the departments you would like to gain more insights. The majority of rotations will take place at the headquarters in Ingelheim, Germany.
As a Global Medicine Trainee, the focus of your rotations will be on corporate medicine functions, for example Regulatory Affairs, Regions Medicine, Patient Safety and Pharmacovigilance, Clinical Development and Operations, Biostatistics & Data Sciences, Global Medical Affairs, Quality Medicine or Therapeutic Areas.
Corporate functions work very closely with their mirroring units on a local level, for example in Germany, where you can experience this exchange firsthand as a Trainee Medical Human Pharma Germany. There you will get insights into the local work of Medical Affairs and Patient Safety and Pharmacovigilance. Other rotations depend on your academic qualification, personal interests and business needs.
It is also possible to do rotations both in global and in local functions and outside of Medicine departments, if it fits. Furthermore, as part of the program you will get the chance to complete an international assignment at one of BI’s global locations.
Trainees will be supported by a mentor in addition to experienced colleagues and will be directly involved in daily business activities and work on tasks within different projects. Throughout the program, you will gain insight in all-important areas and be given more and more responsibility as you progress. You will get to know different medical functions in the pharmaceutical industry and learn all about the journey of a compound, from clinical development through to market release. You also benefit from the BI DISCOVER circle and its activities, for example additional soft skill seminars and networking events. So, by the end of the traineeship, you will be well prepared to take on the challenges of working in one of the Medicine departments.
As a candidate for Global Medicine you are required to have a master’s degree (or equivalent) in Life Science, Pharmacy, Biology, Human Biology, Biostatistics, Medicine; a PhD and / or MD is an asset. For Medical Human Pharma Germany it is a must to be a medical doctor. For both programs you should preferably have international experience and be a motivated networker with an analytical mind-set, curiosity and a strong drive who enjoys working in an international and cross-functional environment. Additionally, you should be able to adapt to a variety of scientific tasks and strategies in a stringently regulated environment and possess a high level of independence.
