So I'd describe myself as a family man
 when I'm home.

I put all my work aside, my phone aside,
 and I just try to be totally present

with my kids
 and my wife, just really immersing myself

with the family
 and dedicating that time to them.

I go to work for making a difference.
 Every day a doctor has to make a decision

on what type of treatment
 they're going to give their patient.

My job is to make sure that that doctor
 has all the options available

and fully understands it so that he or she
 makes the right choice for that patient,

because that can make a difference
 on whether someone lives

another couple of months or another person
 lives for a couple of years.

I think what's kept me with Boehringer

is really that small family culture

where there's no egos,
 there's no hierarchy.

They actually do genuinely
 care about you as a person.

Big reason why I wanted to get into
 oncology is

my father was diagnosed with
 bladder cancer about six years ago.

When we first got that diagnosis,
 I mean, he got the worst news of his life.

And so that kind of motivated me to 
 want to

at least be there for someone else's father.

I just want to be able to know
 that I did the best that I could

to help patients’ health
 and hopefully give them some more hope.

That’s one thing that I've always tried to do
 and hopefully

I can leave a legacy with, that
 people know me when they hear my name.

That's what they remember me by.
