My name is Eva-Maria Wlaschitz and I'm a development scientist at Boehringer Ingelheim in Vienna, Austria. When I started at Boehringer Ingelheim, I worked as a senior process engineer in our new mammalian manufacturing site. We support the ramp-up and transfer the first few products in our manufacturing site. After four years as a senior process engineer, I was seeking for new challenges. I've always worked in mammalian technology my whole career. I thought it's the right time to get to know the microbial technology as well. So I applied as scientist in our Microbial Process Science department. I got the job, and now I'm developing and optimizing hostel systems and processes for production of biopharmaceuticals. I work with a great team and I'm always happy to see my colleagues. It isn't always and only about the work. We also have fun during lunch and coffee break. In summer, we enjoy having lunch outside at the terrace of our cafeteria. At Boehringer Ingelheim gives plenty of opportunities to work in. For example, there is development, research, manufacturing, quality, data science, several business functions as well as technical site engineering, just to name a few. Boehringer Ingelheim has jobs for career starters as well as for advanced professionals.
There are programs for apprentices, [inaudible 00:01:30], trainees, young leaders and job specific trainings. Job moves between the departments to broaden one's experience are always welcome and appreciated. I like about my job here at Boehringer Ingelheim. The treatments that are developed and manufactured here are treatments for severe illnesses. Our work does have an impact on patients' lives. A career at Boehringer Ingelheim is meaningful, diversified, and future-oriented.
