75 Years Boehringer Ingelheim in Austria
In 1948, the German pharmaceutical company Boehringer Ingelheim established its first foreign subsidiary in Vienna, Austria. What began in the backyard of a pharmacy in Vienna's fourth district developed over the years into one of the most important locations within the global group of companies.
When Boehringer Ingelheim opened its doors 75 years ago at Heumühlgasse 4, in the 4th Viennese district, under the name Bender, no one could have imagined what a large and important subsidiary Vienna would one day become. The following decades were characterized by constant expansion and ongoing investment in research and production. Today, the Boehringer Ingelheim Regional Center Vienna (RCV) coordinates 33 countries with more than 3,000 employees - from Central and Eastern Europe to Russia, Mongolia and Israel. The common goal is to improve human and animal health with innovative therapies.
Searching for the first company car
An anniversary is a good occasion to look back on past successes. We can vividly imagine how proud Heinrich Bender and his employees looked back then at the first company car. We wanted to recall this milestone in the company's history and make it "tangible".
Therefore, we went in search of such a car. We found it in Italy and a small but historical adventure began. To take you on this journey into the past, we filmed our trip to Turin.
Watch our road movie and experience how we brought "our" Fiat Topolino back to Vienna.
Video messages from our companions on the occasion of the anniversary
Whether a former employee, patient, family member or current employee - they all took the time to congratulate us on our 75th anniversary and tell us what connects them to Boehringer Ingelheim.
