Indigenous Peoples are often excluded or poorly represented in decision-making processes on matters that directly affect them, resulting in significant social and health consequences. This in combination with living in remote communities and a legacy of mistrust has created a gap in healthcare delivery. Boehringer Ingelheim has recently launched two initiatives from New Zealand and Canada that demonstrate an approach with promising impact.

Black and Latina women with heart failure are not getting the best care, despite living in a country with an overall high health standard. Our program "Hear your Heart", in collaboration with the Lilly Alliance, addresses these health disparities and inequities.

Early treatment can help reduce disability and increase a patient’s likelihood of recovery. However, many hospitals in Brazil lack access to specialized doctors. That is why "Telestroke" was launched: an initiative providing underserved hospitals and regions with immediate access to experts in acute stroke care.
