Who are we?
After studying bioinformatics at Ludwig Maximilian University and the Technical University of Munich, we both earned a PhD from the University of Heidelberg and the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ), where we added applied biological laboratory work to our skill set.
When moving away from the academic environment, it was important to us to find good development and career opportunities at an international research company. We believe in a successful dual career with our children. To us, the excellent reputation of Boehringer Ingelheim clearly proved to be true.
What are our individual roles at Boehringer Ingelheim?
In her role as project manager, Anna liaises between IT RDM (Research, Development & Medicine) and the research department GCBDS (Global Computational Biology and Digital Sciences) and has succeeded in intensifying their cooperation. She is also involved in representing our STEM areas (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) at universities.
As a business consultant in the IT EDS (Enterprise Data Services) Data Strategy team, Lorenz devotes himself to the global data landscape at Boehringer Ingelheim. His particular focus is on bridging the gap between our IT and business units.
What do we appreciate about Boehringer Ingelheim?
Given our shared background in bioinformatics, we appreciate that we can both take on functions that build bridges between research and IT at Boehringer Ingelheim.
We are particularly motivated by being able to experience and shape the speed of innovation at Boehringer Ingelheim. Our ideas and creative drive are taken up and appreciated here.
To us, Boehringer Ingelheim also stands out with its noticeable interest in ensuring a balance between work, partnership, and family. It is not only this form of appreciation for its employees that makes Boehringer Ingelheim a unique employer to us.
Dual career
Thanks to the flexible working hours and teleworking regulations at Boehringer Ingelheim, we can be successful together in our full-time jobs and can still be there for our family. The help provided with finding childcare solutions for everyday and during vacations is also very useful.
At the same time, we are both keen to pursue further development at a personal level. Our company supports this endeavor by investing in its employees in the short and long terms, with various development programs and mentoring.
Our advice for you
Interface functions are very valuable to both our company and you personally. Curiosity, an open mind, and passion allow you to grow with your tasks and make your personal contribution to the success story of Boehringer Ingelheim.
