Transparency about our interactions with healthcare professionals and healthcare organizations (HCOs) is important to the ethical conduct of our business. Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (BIPI) supports the principle of transparency, and wants our stakeholders, including patients, industry groups and state and federal authorities, to understand how we engage with healthcare professionals and HCOs in support of our business.

Research and Development

Grants and Charitable Contributions
BIPI provides Medical Education Grant support for specific independent educational activities for healthcare professionals and patients that may translate to better management of disease and improvement in patient safety and population health. The Boehringer Ingelheim Cares Foundation, Inc. (“BI Cares” or the “Foundation”) is a separate, not-for-profit organization with charitable and philanthropic aims. Charitable Contributions may be made by the Foundation to 501(c)(3) or (4) organizations, including HCOs, to carry out its mission. Learn more about BIPI funding opportunities.
Professional Consulting
BIPI engages healthcare professionals as advisors to share their expertise with our company. These advisors possess unique insight and knowledge in their various fields, and can help us better evaluate scientific issues or data and respond to the emerging needs of patients and other healthcare professionals.
Peer to Peer Educational Program
BIPI contracts with some healthcare professionals as speakers to educate their peers about health conditions and share promotional information about our medicines. They provide valuable knowledge, insight and experience about our medicines and the diseases and conditions they are approved to treat. These programs deliver important information, which can translate to improved patient care.
Meals and Medically Relevant Items Provided to Physicians
In accordance with PhRMA Code, BIPI representatives may provide modest meals to Healthcare Professionals in connection with information presentations that occur in a place and manner conducive to an informative discussion.
