Research that touches lives

Eric Haaksma, our Head of Global Innovation Animal Health, talks about solving medical challenges to address unmet needs and transform lives.

"The job is challenging," that’s how Eric bluntly describes working in research and innovation. "You answer questions which haven't been answered before. If you're able to solve some of those questions, you're going to make an impact later," he continues with a smile, "is there anything nicer than that?" Embracing health challenges and solving them as a team to help bring new medications to market is what makes him go to work every day.

With his wife and sons also having pursued careers in medical sciences, their home is a place of scientific debate and knowledge exchange. Eric wouldn’t want it any other way because seeking answers to medical problems is fun and, most importantly, allows him to "touch somebody's life."
