Ingelheim, July 16, 2021 – Boehringer Ingelheim responds to the dramatic situation in the flooded areas of Rhineland-Palatinate and North Rhine-Westphalia with additional relief measures. The company is increasing the donation amount for emergency aid to EUR 1 million. As part of the fundraising campaign, Boehringer Ingelheim already donated EUR 100,000 to the German Red Cross, which is participating in disaster relief efforts for the affected regions. In addition, the company is in consultation with the authorities to support further relief efforts. In a first step, the company's employee restaurants will supply the affected district of Ahrweiler in Rhineland-Palatinate with 2,300 meals tomorrow, Saturday.
“The images from the affected areas are harrowing,” said Hubertus von Baumbach, Chairman of the Board of Managing Directors. “Our thoughts are with those affected. The tireless efforts of the helpers on the ground give us hope in these difficult times. As a company in the region, we would like to do our utmost to support this help for those affected.”
