Fornovo San Giovanni (Bidachem)

Fornovo San Giovanni, Lombardy, is the seat of Bidachem.

Founded in 1981, Fornovo San Giovanni serves both – Human Pharma and Animal Health – as a strategic chemical site for the production of core active pharmaceutical ingredients. This site, which is located just some 40 kilometers outside of Milan, is managed by Bidachem SpA, the local Boehringer Ingelheim affiliate. More than 200 employees work for Bidachem in Fornovo San Giovanni.

Production of chemical-pharmaceutical active ingredients plays a key role here.

Bidachem occupies a large area, where two major multipurpose production plants (Synthesis 1 and 2) are the heart of the site, together with a state-of-the-art quality control laboratory for the release of the active pharmaceutical ingredients.

Since 2010, this site has seen investments of more than EUR 130 million. Latest investments include the configuration of the Synthesis 2 plant for the production of a diabetes medication as well as the installation of a second thermo oxidizer and scrubbers.
