Boehringer Ingelheim and the World Association for Buiatrics support outstanding research on ruminant animal health and well-being

Boehringer Ingelheim, a global leader in animal health supports farmers and veterinarians worldwide in their work and promotes better farming practices to achieve long-term, positive impact not only in terms of animal health, but also in terms of well-being. One important way to raise awareness and spread knowledge around animal well-being is to build and share scientific insights on ruminant animal well-being.

Submissions to Ruminant Well-Being Awards open now

In 2018, Boehringer Ingelheim launched the Ruminant Well-Being Awards together with the World Association for Buiatrics (WAB), an independent international association to promote all aspects of buiatrics in both science and practice. The Award is presented in two categories: the Ruminant Well-Being Research Award is granted to a recent PhD graduate in veterinary science, animal science or related disciplines that made an exceptional contribution to the scientific knowledge on ruminant well-being. The Ruminant Well-Being Achievement Award will be awarded to a practicing veterinarian or a researcher in veterinary science, animal science or related disciplines to recognize their achievements in advancing the well-being of ruminants. The winners of the two award categories receive 10,000 EUR each to support their further research. Additionally, Boehringer Ingelheim will reimburse the recipients for travel expenses to attend the World Buiatrics Conference in Madrid, Spain, from September 4-8, 2022. At this key industry event, they will have the opportunity to network with peers and learn about latest developments in bovine veterinary care.

Call for applications for Gustav Rosenberger Memorial Fund (GRMF) grant

Another example of the promotion of young scientists through Boehringer Ingelheim is the sponsoring of the Gustav Rosenberger Memorial Fund (GRMF) grant. The GRMF is a tribute to Dr Gustav Rosenberger and related to the World Association for Buiatrics (WAB). Its objective is to further improve bovine medicine at an international level and to stimulate bovine research in its broadest sense. The GRMF provides grants on a yearly base to young and promising veterinarians who further develop bovine medicine in general. The winner of the GRMF will receive a price money of 10,000 EUR. Candidates for the GRMF grant are veterinarians, working in bovine medicine, and who have graduated no longer than 10 years prior to submitting. Submissions are open now until July 15, 2022.
