Appropriate controls, safe work practices, preventive maintenance, and necessary engineering controls must be in place to mitigate health and safety hazards. If hazards cannot be adequately controlled in this way, employees shall be provided with appropriate personal protective equipment. In accordance with the continuous improvement program, steps for accident prevention are to be determined, evaluated and initiated.

Process safety

Suppliers must have programs in place to prevent or mitigate the accidental release of chemical or biological agents during operations and processes. The programs must be risk appropriate to the facilities.

Emergency preparedness and response

Suppliers must identify and assess emergency situations in the workplace and in company shelters, and minimize their impact, through prevention, emergency plans, and response procedures.

Hazard information

Safety information related to hazardous materials * including active pharmaceutical ingredients and intermediates must be available to instruct, train and protect employees from hazards.

Suppliers must operate in an environmentally conscious and efficient manner and minimize negative environmental impacts. They are encouraged to conserve natural resources and contribute to sustainability, reuse and recycling, and to avoid hazardous substances when possible.

Environmental Permits

Suppliers must comply with all applicable environmental regulations. All necessary environmental permits, licenses, information approvals and restrictions shall be in place and operational and reporting requirements shall be followed.

Waste and Emissions
