Transforming tomorrow with R&D

What is it like to break new ground in pharmaceutical development at our R&D facilities? We ask Manami Tsutsumi, Senior Associate Director, Research & Development.

From my first day working here, I found that everyone was very friendly and extremely helpful. It was an easy environment to learn. The set-up of the company was very easy to navigate.

From the human perspective, you’re trying to develop a drug that helps someone feel a little bit better. You know that while it might not be a cure, it could be a treatment that makes someone’s quality of life better – or even keeps them alive. To be able to make that kind of contribution is what brings me to work and makes me say ‘OK, I really want to do this.’

This sense of giving also continues outside of work. Whenever there’s an opportunity to participate in my church outreach program, for example, my colleagues at Boehringer Ingelheim get together as a family. If there are people in need, why not go and help?

To be able to work for a company like Boehringer Ingelheim is an amazing opportunity – so I’d encourage you to apply for a role. There aren’t too many companies developing drugs for so many diseases, and Boehringer Ingelheim is one of the best places to make a difference, working with the people of the highest caliber. I also think it’s great that we’re free to interact with each other at Boehringer Ingelheim, to work as a team to come up with the best possible solution.
