Hurricane help: Boehringer Ingelheim Cares Foundation’s unwavering support of storm victims
When Hurricane Helene made landfall on the Gulf Coast of Florida, it brought with it unprecedented destruction. As a Category 4 hurricane, Helene traveled 800 miles inland, leaving a trail of historic flooding, widespread power outages, and extensive damage. The storm claimed the lives of more than 100 people.
With Hurrican Milton’s thundering arrival only days later, both the damage and the urgent need for assistance has been compounded by this one-two punch, which has turned roads into waterways, left thousands without a home or basic necessities, and stretched resources dangerously thin.
In response to this disaster, the Boehringer Ingelheim Cares Foundation has taken significant steps to address the urgent community needs that such calamities create. We are proud to partner with nonprofit organizations like Greater Good Charities, Americares, World Central Kitchen, and Direct Relief. These organizations are working tirelessly to provide food, access to healthcare, and other essential services to even the hardest-hit communities. The Boehringer Ingelheim Cares Foundation has also donated products to support the health of both people and animals affected by Hurricane Helene.
During such disasters, pet owners often turn to animal welfare organizations for help. Many of these organizations experience a sudden surge in animals needing care, requiring veterinary support to maintain their health.
Boehringer Cares has also initiated a double matching donation opportunity for our employees, amplifying their generosity during these challenging times.
“Our hearts go out to the communities hardest hit,” said Erin Sternberg, director of Boehringer Cares and Corporate Social Responsibility. “Witnessing the loss of life, homes washed away, and communities in distress is heartbreaking. This response is just the beginning, and we know that a long road to recovery lies ahead.”
Boehringer Cares remains dedicated to helping the communities affected by Hurricanes Helene and Milton during this challenging time and in the weeks and months ahead.
