Our pre-employment screenings consist of two requirements: background check and drug screening.
We work with Baker Street Associates (BSA) to conduct our pre-employment screenings and our team requests these processes begin within 24 hours after we receive your signed offer letter to be sure there are no impacts to your agreed upon start date.
Drug Screening: For your drug screening, it is important to note that you have 72 hours to take your test once you have received the notification from BSA. Screenings can be completed at ANY Quest or LabCorp location, regardless of the location / zip code listed on screening form.
Background Screening: Background screenings include education, employment, and criminal history unless otherwise indicated. While Baker Street Associates is processing your background check, it is possible that a representative from their company may need to contact you directly to clarify or obtain additional information to complete your screening. It is imperative that you follow up with BSA as soon as possible to avoid potential delays as we want to make sure you can join our team on the date originally proposed in your offer letter.
Timing for pre-employment screening results varies; completion is typically within two weeks from the time BSA receives all required information to process your background check. If there are any concerns regarding your results a member of our recruitment team will follow up with you. As mentioned above, once your results have come back and your pre-employment screenings are considered fully cleared, we will notify you by email. If you were cleared to start employment with a pre-employment contingency, the clearance message will not be received until after your start date once the contingent items have cleared.
Form I-9 is a federally required document through US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) which verifies your identity and employment authorization. All employees hired by Boehringer Ingelheim, both US citizens and noncitizens, must complete this form and provide acceptable documents as evidence of your identity and employment authorization.
Boehringer Ingelheim uses a third-party vendor, Form I-9 Compliance, to manage our I-9 forms and complete the E-Verify process to ensure we comply with USCIS regulations. You will receive a link from a member of our Talent Acquisition Coordinator (TAC) team via email to access the Form I-9 system and complete Section 1 of the document. Please be advised that this link will expire after 30 days so it is recommended that you complete this information as soon as possible to avoid having to resend the information.
Section 2 of the form needs to be completed by either a designated representative appointed by you or a member of the Boehringer Ingelheim team. This will be determined by where you will be on your first day of work with us (onsite or remote). To complete Section 2, the representative will need to review the documents you have selected from the USCIS List of Acceptable Documents. All documents being used as evidence of your identity and employment authorization must be unexpired.
Onsite Day 1: Please be sure to bring with you the same documentation you used to complete Section 1 of your Form I-9. This will allow a member of our team to complete Section 2 in person and ensure compliance with federal government requirements.
Remote Day 1: Please appoint a designated representative (e.g., friend or family member) to review your acceptable documents in person and complete Section 2 via the link you send them from the Form I-9 site.
Form I-9 completion is required no later than your second day of employment to allow Boehringer Ingelheim to review the submissions and maintain compliance. You do not need to confirm with us if your form has been accurately completed as our HR Compliance team will contact you if there is any information missing or they have any questions about your submission. If you have questions on completing the form, you can contact our HR Compliance team at hrhrcompliance.us@boehringer-ingelheim.com.
