Prioritizing mental health and well-being today and every day

The National Alliance on Mental Illness reports that 1 in 5 U.S. adults experience mental illness each year. This statistic is staggering, which is why we’re helping raise awareness and bringing more attention to this often taboo or stigmatized topic.

Here is a message from Jamie Eden, Senior Vice President, Human Resources and Communications, on our dedication to supporting mental health and well-being across our company and within the communities we serve.

Jamie Eden

“Whether you are a Boehringer Ingelheim employee, an extended part of our family-owned company, or a member of the communities we serve, we value your mental well-being.

Focusing on your own mental health is not a sign of weakness; it’s a sign of courage and hope. I’ve made it a point to prioritize my well-being, especially with all the uncertainties we faced over the past few years. Spending time outdoors hiking, going for a run, or playing a round (or two!) of golf helps me renew my mental and physical health. If you have a pet, there’s also evidence that the human-animal bond can help you socially, physically, and emotionally.

Let’s stand together, #ForEachOther and for mental health to improve treatment options and break down the stigma that prevents so many from seeking the care they need.”

Employee Resources

We value our employees’ mental health and strive to ensure they can experience full lives personally and professionally. We encourage employees to use our employee assistance program. We also create a culture of caring so that colleagues, in a moment of stress, feel empowered to ask for help and lean on one another for support.

  • Partnering with academic and research experts from around the globe.
  • Applying a precision psychiatry approach to drug discovery and development.
  • Investigating the root neurobiological causes relating to specific symptoms that remain overlooked or untreated.
  • Looking to the future of care in mental health of how digital therapeutics may complement pharmacotherapy.
