Dirk Stenkamp, Senior Vice President Research Site Germany, reflects on our culture of collaboration and passion for progress.

I lead the Research Site Germany and I am a member of the Boehringer Ingelheim German Executive Committee. In addition, I am responsible for the majority of Boehringer Ingelheim’s global research NCE (new chemical entity) capabilities and am therefore an important driver of innovation and productivity.

Hard work and teamwork

As a researcher, I am passionate about bringing real breakthrough innovations to patients. It excites me when the hard work of our project teams leads to drug candidates which can be tested in clinical trials, and even more so if they reach the market and thus the people in need. There is no better purpose. For me, the next step is to build, together with my colleagues, an even stronger global research organization working across all therapeutic areas.

It's about the people

Boehringer Ingelheim has a great culture of collaboration, coupled with high commitment and persistency. We as a company are solution-oriented and have a “care-and-share mindset” that makes us unique in the pharmaceutical industry. The people at Boehringer Ingelheim made me join the company — the unique culture of working together and a clear purpose. That's what attracted me from the very first day.

The best thing about working at Boehringer Ingelheim

I’d have to say it’s working with dedicated and committed people who share a common goal: transforming lives for generations.
