At Boehringer Ingelheim Colombia, we are not only just supporting with medical supplies and equipment, but are also caring for those in most vulnerable situations. A series of activities have been kicked off throughout the country:

InCrescendo: Since 2019, we are supporting the InCrescendo Foundation with donations. Located at Colombia’s north region, in the middle of a post conflict area, they work to support children to have a quality primary education and teaching musical lessons. They are even running an orchestra in the midst of this pandemic. A donation of EUR 2.500 will cover salaries for teachers for three months and we will donate 22 laptops to facilitate virtual classes to children.

Food to Help: We are keeping our ongoing contract and relationship with our catering provider Entremes, but redirecting the food normally prepared for our office employees to help building food packages and deliver these to Foundations we usually collaborate with. This helps providing food supplies to families in need supported by two Foundations we are working with since 2018 as part of our Corporate Social Responsibility programme: Techo para Mi País and Jerónimo Soy Muy Feliz.
The foundation Techo para Mi Pais builds houses for the most vulnerable population in Colombia’s main cities. The foundation Jeronimo Soy Muy Feliz supports children with cancer and their families, to help them continue treatments, provide entertainment and offer relief on basic needs for families.

Telemedicina: Given the impact of the sanitary emergency COVID-19, we have seen a necessity for alternative ways for offering treatments and consultations for patients. We contributed more than EURO 12.000 for this necessity and changing patient needs, allowing for more than additional 20 licences to operate telemedicine for patients and physicians in need.

AFIDRO: Among other companies engaged in the Columbian Association of Multinational Pharmaceutical Companies AFIDRO, Boehringer Ingelheim Colombia has donated 30 beds, 30 stretchers and 50 stethoscopes to the Military Central Hospital, the reference institution for facing the COVID-19 sanitary emergency.

Public Institutions: To help protecting healthcare professionals working in public institutions, we donated 29.000 face masks, 30.000 anti-slip shoe covers, 1.000 units of hand sanitizer and 1.000 bottles of ethyl alcohol to 12 Public Healthcare Institutions in Colombia. This humanitarian donation represents an investment of 31.600 Euros, 2600 Euros per institution. These materials directly support the health professional staff in need, to manage patients with COVID 19 properly.
