COVID-19: Mexico – Donations of Protective Materials to Healthcare Institutions
In the face of the coronavirus pandemic, the health sector in Mexico has been severely affected resulting in overcrowded clinics and hospitals, the lack of protective gear and challenges in terms of manufacturing and distribution of material, leading various institutions to seek help to obtain what´s necessary to continue the fight to heal patients.
Boehringer Ingelheim Mexico donated protective materials to governmental health institutions dedicated to the care of patients with COVID-19, demonstrating its commitment to provide value and caring for those on the front lines of the battle.
The donations comprised of safety goggles, facial protectors, gloves, certified suits, KN95 respirator masks and antibacterial gel containers to protect healthcare professionals, representing a total value of more than 50.000 Euros.
‘We have made a great effort to maximize aid and reach as many people as possible. Several collaborators who are in contact with doctors have forwarded requests to us from various institutions at a national level that join the ones that come to us directly from hospitals, foundations and other organizations requiring protective material to further support patients,’ said Dolores Valenzuela, Corporate Communication, Social Responsibility and Crisis Manager at Boehringer Ingelheim Mexico.
Boehringer Ingelheim Mexico will continue to focus on helping the most vulnerable sectors, as it has done up to now through donations or alliances that have enabled to reach communities of extreme poverty so that they can face the health crisis. Employees also recently received a protective kit to use when leaving home or returning to work either on site or in the field.
