COVID-19: Pandemic support in Vietnam
Find out how Boehringer Ingelheim Vietnam is joining hands with the government and hospitals
The Boehringer Ingelheim Vietnam office was initially established in 1993 under a local distributor. In 1998, the first representative office in the south started its operation and in January 2020, Boehringer Ingelheim Vietnam LLC was established as a legal entity for the Human Pharma business unit.
Growing strongly over more than two decades, Boehringer Ingelheim Vietnam is continuing to advance its ranking among the top 20 companies in human pharmaceuticals and animal health in the country.
During the challenging time of the pandemic, Boehringer Ingelheim extended its support to team up with other pharmaceutical companies in Vietnam, to help support the fight against COVID-19.
Joining Hands with the Government
Boehringer Ingelheim Vietnam, together with other EuroCham Pharma Group members have jointly donated a total of USD$100,000 (~ €86,957) to the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) national campaign for the prevention and treatment of COVID-19.
“In line with the 4 pillars in Boehringer Ingelheim’s Global Support Program, Boehringer Ingelheim Vietnam is proud to play our part in supporting the local community and working with the government to overcome COVID-19. We continue to drive healthcare standards up for the people and represent innovative pharma in Vietnam. We are interested in growing together with Vietnam and are proud that the success we have seen in our joint efforts so far point to greater things to come,” said Bjoern Rambags, Board Member of the EuroCham Pharma Group and General Manager of Boehringer Ingelheim Vietnam.
Nicolas Audier, Chairman of EuroCham said, “European pharmaceutical companies make a huge contribution to the health of Vietnamese citizens, the development of Vietnam’s pharmaceutical sector, and the country’s economic growth. I am delighted that EuroCham members in the innovative pharmaceutical industry have come together to show their solidarity with Vietnam during these difficult times. Their donation to the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the national campaign on the prevention and treatment of COVID-19 shows both their support for the government in its fight against the virus and their dedication to Vietnam’s long-term health and prosperity.”
Initiative by Employees
Closer to home, a group of Boehringer Ingelheim Vietnam employees wanted to play their part in supporting the fight against COVID-19. On their own initiative, they reached out to high schools, universities and hospitals.
Their sincere efforts certainly paid off, as they managed to make an in-kind donation equivalent to €556, which consisted of 160 Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as masks, isolation suits, 3M glasses and gloves. This wonderful and helpful gesture was very much appreciated by the hospitals, which are treating COVID-19 patients.
Boehringer Ingelheim Vietnam is extremely proud of this initiative by our employees and will also be donating PPE in-kind, with a value of €3,366.
