BI Cares Continued Support for Ukraine
Our family-owned company condemns the ongoing military aggression against Ukraine, and have maintained our support for those in need by providing financial and in-kind donations through our Boehringer Ingelheim Cares Foundation (BI Cares). Â
We’ve partnered with colleagues to make much-needed donations for people and animals impacted by violence or displaced in Ukraine and the surrounding regions.
As our work continues in the U.S., we encourage you to learn more about how our global colleagues are carrying out widespread response efforts. You can begin by reading a recent web article from Hubertus von Baumbach, our chairman of the board of managing directors.
Product Donations
We’ve been working closely with our non-governmental organization partners, Direct Relief and Americares. With the help of Kharkiv City Council and the Ukrainian Ministry of Health, we’ve identified where Boehringer Ingelheim medicines are needed most to help the Ukrainian people.
Since the war started, we have provided our medications to people living with respiratory and chronic conditions. Here are the product donations from BI Cares to date: Â Â
- In Match 2022, we donated more than 14,000 units of medicine valued at more than $5 million.
- We recently helped Direct Relief and its partners provide more than 1,000 tons and $640 million of medical material aid to those in need.
Financial Contributions
Beyond our medicines, we’re also making financial contributions to support lifesaving relief and recovery efforts through our BI Cares Matching Gifts Program. The program gives our U.S. colleagues an opportunity to double the impact of their financial donations to nonprofits partners including:
- Americares
- Direct Relief
- Greater Good Charities
- Save the Children
As we continue to evaluate the situation, we are committed to providing additional assistance and working with our emergency response partners as needs evolve.
Thank you to our colleagues and emergency response partners who have made these tremendous acts of kindness possible. #ForEachOther
