200 employees make a difference with record-breaking volunteer efforts
In May, our employees showed up in numbers to support our local communities. Through our Skills2Give program, nearly 200 employees came together to lend their time and skills to nonprofits that are doing crucial work to support people and animals around the world.
Several groups of 10-14 employees worked side-by-side with nonprofits to hear about challenges they’re facing and identify solutions in real-time for the nonprofits to put into action. Employees volunteered virtually across the United States and at our sites in Ridgefield, Connecticut, and Duluth, Georgia.
This skills-based volunteer event was held during our annual Value Through Innovation (VTI) Day, where we hosted a series of activities that support our company culture, foster a sense of community, and allow us to give back to the people and animals we serve.
Employees collectively donated an outstanding 550 hours helping 16 nonprofit partners in the following areas:
- Marketing & communications
- Fundraising
- Organizational strategy
- Talent recruitment
- Event planning
- Process development
- Training
- Business development
Other volunteer options
Group volunteering is one avenue through Skills2Give for our employees to give back. They can also connect year-round with nonprofits through one-on-one assignments based on each organization’s immediate business needs. For both volunteer options, we partner with nonprofits that focus on ensuring good health, strengthening the human-animal bond, encouraging STEM education, supporting disaster relief, being sustainable, and addressing food insecurity.
Employee volunteerism demonstrates our culture of caring and our company’s values of being compassionate and generous. We look forward to growing our Skills2Give program, in partnership with Catchafire, to maintain our commitment to creating a sustainable impact in our communities today and for generations to come.
More about VTI Day
In addition to volunteering during VTI Day, employees were encouraged to ‘seize the now’ and take action to shape a better tomorrow for human and animal health, our communities, and our planet. They learned about our company’s different service areas, had fun with colleagues, took mindfulness moments, heard from leaders, and toured labs and campuses, including seeing our new mobile research unit that’ll help ensure clinical trials are even more inclusive and accessible.
