Charitable Contributions
The Boehringer Ingelheim Cares Foundation (BI Cares) provides nonprofit community programs with financial support to improve access to healthcare, enhance STEM education and strengthen the human-animal bond, all with a focus on helping the underserved.
Over the 20-year history of the Foundation, we have invested over $37 million dollars in nonprofit programs aligned with our goals addressing unmet community needs.
Product Donations
Since the inception of the BI Cares Foundation, we have donated over $5 billion in medicines to patients in need through our Patient Assistance and Product Donations Programs.
The BI Cares Foundation Patient Assistance Program provides Boehringer Ingelheim medicines free of charge to US patients who meet program eligibility requirements.
The BI Cares Foundation Product Donations Program provides essential medicines to patients in need at home and around the world, anywhere our medicines can improve health or quality of life.
Employee Engagement
Boehringer Ingelheim employees actively participate in Business Resource Groups that deepen awareness of the richness of our diverse backgrounds and experiences and leverage the skills and expertise of our employees to better understand the cultural perspectives of the patients and customers we serve in our communities.
Business Resource Groups are voluntary, and members of these groups contribute to culture by sharing experiences and concerns, discussing best practices, and participating in networking, professional development and mentoring.
In addition, employees participate in activities that demonstrate our commitment to being Upstanders for a healthier and more equitable society.
Employee Volunteerism
At Boehringer Ingelheim, we are committed to transforming the lives of people and animals. In addition to the value and impact created by our business, through employee volunteerism, we support many initiatives that give back to communities where we live and work.
Our employees are highly engaged in our corporate social responsibility and amplify our impact through skills-based volunteerism. By donating their time and skills, they help nonprofits fill unmet community needs.
Helping to distribute COVID-19 vaccines, preparing care packages for food insecure families, and even providing pet therapy to hospital patients are recent examples of our employees’ contributions through volunteering. More broadly, employees volunteer in our key focus areas: improving the health and wellbeing of people and animals; advancing education, fairness, inclusion and nurturing skills for the future; and environmental stewardship. Additionally, we encourage them to volunteer for other causes that are important to them.
Employee volunteerism demonstrates Boehringer Ingelheim’s culture of caring and exemplifies our commitment to creating lasting impact in our communities around the world. We are proud of the innovative ways Boehringer Ingelheim employees generously donate their time and skills to educate, help and provide for our neighbors in need. Over $1 million of employee skills-based services are volunteered annually.
